Supplements
Magnesium for the WIN…almost always (I’m a fan)
- https://amzn.to/49HiAnZ Lifted Naturals Magnesium Complex. This is a low-dose option including a great combo of Bisglycinate, Taurate, and Malate forms of Magnesium. For me personally, this is a nice daytime magnesium. But I would definitely need more than the 1 capsule suggested (70 mg). That’s ME and I happen to know I burn through Magnesium and can require quite a bit more than that. I always make sure to have a few different forms each day, including something topical
- https://amzn.to/3T52OxL Pure Encapsulations Magnesium Glycinate. I love the Glycinate form of Magnesium because unlike some of the others, it does not impact the bowels. This form is great to take any time of day but I personally choose to take it before bed (and again I personally take 2 capsules vs the 1 capsule suggestion). Listen to YOUR body & do what is best for YOU.
- https://amzn.to/3SMEWxt XYMOGEN OptiMag Neuro. Another great combo of L-Threonate, Malate, & Glycinate Magnesium forms that can work together to support both relaxation AND brain health. I’ve taken this combination in the morning or midday. But any time of day should be fine. Whatever route I choose, I always make sure to have some type of magnesium before bed because for me it very much helps with quality sleep.
- https://amzn.to/3I4muvm Designs for Health NeuroMag. This is a stand-alone option for Magnesium L-Threonate. So this could be taken on its own during the day but supplemented with another form (or more) later in the evening.
- https://amzn.to/3T3KyUj Jigsaw Health MagSoothe Calming Magnesium Powder. This product serves as a magnesium supplement (the Glycinate form + Sodium Bicarbonate and Potassium Bicarbonate) but it also includes mineral/electrolyte support & in a powder form. I do not use this regularly, and it does include a few things that I personally don’t prefer (it’s a flavored powder – think like a lemonade/tart flavor). But that might appeal to some people, especially pre/post sports, and any other time you might feel dehydrated & in need of mineral replenishment.
I’m diving into the use of CELL SALTS for myself, and if anyone else is doing the same, this is one of the brands I’m currently trying:
- https://amzn.to/3v3uRnQ Jackson’s Cell Salts (CALC PHOS 6X) Lactose-Free (I chose this one in hopes of remineralizing my teeth) – I’m hoping it helps my body better absorb Calcium.
- https://amzn.to/3Vg4Axz Jackson’s Cell Salts (12 IN 1) Lactose-Free Combination (I’m considering this one as it has been suggested for an overall better absorption of minerals)
ACHOO!!! Having allergies?
Everyone has ALLERGIES these days, and at all times of the year. Air quality, crazy weather, and I’m not even sure what else (maybe just an over-exposure of ALL Of the things has made most of us just more reactive), even those people who exclaim “but I don’t have allergies”….sigh I know – it stinks. But here are some forms of support that I have used in the past that helped.
Natural Antihistamines
- https://amzn.to/49kXQln NOW brand Quercetin with Bromelain (it’s a natural antihistamine). Foods like blueberries are high in quercetin, too – so go enjoy some of those as well!!
- https://amzn.to/3vy1Wsy NOW brand Stinging Nettle Root Extract (another natural antihistamine — the cheaper brand for those who are frugal). You can try isolating Quercetin & Nettles individually to see if one works better than the other. OR if you are super allergic at the moment, you could try taking both together to tag team the histamine. With nettles you can also get the leaves (organic is my choice) and steep them as a tea. It tastes ever better if you blend it with peppermint leaves.
- https://amzn.to/3xrYpMY Source Naturals Allercetin Homeopathic
- https://amzn.to/3J7LVwo Seeking Health HistaminX (Quercetin, Nettle, Rutin, Bromelain) this one covers it all with a nice blend of histamine & inflammation fighting ingredients.
Looking for ways to increase your Vitamin D levels?
- https://amzn.to/48OgAKo Green Pasture fermented Cod Liver Oil. This is one of the ways I get my Vitamin D, especially during the months when I can’t access enough sun.
I am sharing the gel capsules for ease (and for those who may have an aversion to fish oil taste/smell, etc). But you can also choose to take the oil straight up, or even better – incorporate some organs into your weekly meal plans if you feel called to do so.
- https://amzn.to/4biCsz6 ROSITA Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil. Another option for a non-synthetic source of Vitamins A & D
How about non-synthetic Vitamin C to support your immune system?
Whole Food Vitamin C Options:
- https://amzn.to/42jZ1zF Paleovalley Essential C. This is just straight-up Vitamin C (all from Organic Superfoods: Acerola Cherry, Amla Berry, & Camu Camu)
- https://amzn.to/4b4AUaS Supreme Nutrition Camu Supreme. 100% Camu Camu Fruit (Vitamin C)
More Immunity Support – To help with other areas that may be linked to a stronger immune system, for fighting something off we have had luck in our household with oregano oil.
- https://amzn.to/3VvbFdK Biotics Research ADP (concentrated oregano oil)
- https://amzn.to/4apQY6W Gaia Herbs Oregano Oil Capsules (I have not personally tried these but have heard others express positive results)
- https://amzn.to/48kZpko Drosera Cough Syrup
Who needs help with DIGESTION? Missing your gallbladder? Dealing with pesky symptoms?
- https://amzn.to/3vQojsR Standard Process Cholacol Gallbladder Support (Bovine Bile Salts + Collinsonia blend for fat digestion)
- https://amzn.to/3yDIdsp Douglas Labs Bilex Digestive Enzyme (Lipase, Pancreatin, Amylase, Protease, Papain, & Ox Bile Extract) I feel like this should be a good overall enzyme for someone without a gallbladder. And you could increase/decrease the dosage depending on the size or fat content of your meal.
- https://amzn.to/4aFSRMA Pure Encapsulations Digestion GB (Protease, Lipase, Amylase, Ox Bile, Taurine, Milk Thistle, Turmeric)
- https://amzn.to/3Km6jul Pure Encapsulations Taurine (1,000 mg for one capsule of Taurine). Taurine is not a digestive enzyme but an amino acid supplement that I’ve found to be beneficial for people without a gallbladder, and for others with a gallbladder, too. I take it, and I feel like it has helped with both my sleep & energy levels. But it helps the body process bile acid & therefore better break down fats, which is why it’s a good choice for those without a gallbladder.
- https://amzn.to/3uigN9C Dr. Mercola Gallbladder Enzymes (Ox Bile, Pancreatic Enzymes, & ATP)
The prior supplements help those without a gallbladder & those who might be suffering from a less than functional gallbladder, poor digestion of fats, gallstones, etc.
ALSO —> If you continue to scroll down, you will find the Gut Health & Immune Support suggestions, which I also have personally found great benefit from, as have my friends who no longer have their gallbladder, and others who have dealt with gut issues after years of being subjected to antibiotics and other prescription and OTC medicine that managed to disrupt their microbiome.
The following supplements may help with overall digestion, or specific digestion needs (such as fructose, protein, gluten, dairy, etc). I will be adding to all of these over time, and updating as I experiment & take notes. This is where I remind you how valuable and eye-opening a food diary can be. Not just tracking what you eat, but when, your state of mind during the meal, and any observations, symptoms, or thoughts around eating should be noted.
- https://amzn.to/47Ucu23 Pure Encapsulations Gluten/Dairy Digest
- https://amzn.to/49btEcK Fructaid Enzyme (helps to digest fructose)
- https://amzn.to/3UBUeb1 Pure Encapsulations Digestive Enzymes Ultra (with Betaine HCl). This is a good overall enzyme, especially for those who may have reintroduced animal proteins after not having them for a while. The Betaine HCl can help with lack of stomach acid production, however it also may NOT be needed in some cases. Listen to your body.
- https://amzn.to/3HE0fMv Pure Encapsulations Digestive Enzymes Ultra (without Betaine HCl). Don’t need the Betaine HCl? Here’s an option that can help with digesting protein, carbs, & fat. I do very well with this one. And if I’m only having a smaller meal I will only take one vs a larger meal I would take two.
Herbal Remedies
- https://amzn.to/49W70Wh Shepherd’s Purse (Starwest Organics brand -organic cut herb). May help with hormonal issues, such as long/heavy periods. I personally steeped it as a tea. Make sure to read for contraindications before trying (examples: kidney stones, heart issues may not be a good match).
- https://amzn.to/3x705uS Pure Encapsulations Chaste Tree (Vitex). May help support menstrual cycle
Gut healing & immune support

- https://amzn.to/4ar4gQg Just Thrive Ultimate IgG (GF/DF Colostrum alternative — same as the above product – just a different brand) & you can choose powder or capsule form. IgG support can be very beneficial with gut healing, things like SIBO, food intolerances, & more. Like any supplement or change, taking immunoglobulins (IgG) will be trial & error to find what is right for you, along with listening to your body. (NOTE: there is a tiny amount of sunflower lecithin for those who are anaphylactic to sunflower seeds)
